CASKS AND TANKS

The cooperage KHS exclusively uses finest selections of hand-picked, dried and matured oak in order to produce premium oval and round casks as well as tanks and vats.

We manufacture products of the highest quality on the market, based on decades of experience in traditional handcraft combined with passion and expert knowledge about the interaction of wood and wine.

We strongly focus to only manufacture fine grown French oaks with faultless wood structures. In order to optimize and synchronize wine and wood, also German, Austrian or Slavonic oak come into play - always depending on our customers' objectives.

The origin of our oak is always strictly controlled and PFSC certified. Wood used by us will be dried and matured outdoors for a time frame of at least one year per cm wood thickness and to have bitter tannins washed out by rain and snow. Through that process oak gets optimized and guarantees excellent natural aromas for your wines.

For the finishing all casks receive a sealing with pure natural oils and waxes, that ensures and perfectly maintains micro-oxidation abilities of the oak.

The very special Fuder casks have still been typically used in the wine-growing region 'Mosel' and is traditionally made in a round design.

Oval Casks has particularly been used in the 'Rheingau' and all along the Rhine, but also in other wine-growing regions in Germany as well as internationally.

As an alternative to our oval casks, we offer round casks, that are also handmade in the same quality with capacities of 6 to 30 hectoliters.

Our vats are made of the same finely grown oak as our other casks.
